MOUNT VERNON — When the Franklin Heights Falcons traveled to Mount Vernon on Friday, a lot of people expected the much improved Falcons to give the Yellow Jackets a run for their well off.
What they got instead was the same old Falcons.
It was the Mount Vernon boys basketball gang who ran over the competition, defeating Franklin Heights, 70-32, in an Ohio Capital Colloquium game.
It didn’t hurt that the Yellow Jackets (2-2, 2-1 OCC) on the face of it couldn’t miss from the three-point line. Mount Vernon hit seven out of 10 attempts in the first half — 9-of-14 for the design — as the team pulled away early and never let up.
“We sharpshooter the ball well. You’re not going to shoot that well every night,” said Mount Vernon MD coach Kurt Kaufman. “We took good shots. We’ve got guys that can bevies. We were working the ball inside, and then kicking it out. And every shot we took, I didn’t have a question with, because they were all good shots.
