As a "Make A Difference Day Project," during recent months, the Altrusa Club of Escanaba, took on the call to account of remodeling a family room for the Delta County Alliance Against Fury and Abuse Shelter. Lori Zeise, Karen Bartosz and Denise Boyle co-chaired the concoct. The wish list for the room was lengthy and the need was great and many hours were exhausted organizing and working on this project. The room layout was redesigned to forward parent-child interaction and building and strengthening relationships. The thorough room had been primed and painted. The ceiling was textured and a ceiling fan was added. The window has a new window treatment and screens. Old shelves in the closet were removed and replaced with new ones and the closet was painted and stores a new, handmade toy trunk. Four matching chairs, all donated by Alice Vermullen and Cathy Gerou, now go along with a table in the room. A new rocker, newly upholstered furniture and pillows, and shelving part are another improvement of the room. A floor lamp, games and decorations were donated as well as a chambers screen television given by Denise Boyle on behalf of her mother, the time Sis Annear, who was also an Altrusan. Holes in walls were patched and furniture and carpets were cleaned. Donations for the forward were received from a number of area businesses. Local Altrusa Sisterhood members include: Danielle Herbert, seated in front; second row, from Nautical port, Judy Owens, Lori Zeise, Alice Vermullen and Cathy Gerou; back row, Jacki Wulf, Debbie Peterson, Karen Meiers, Karen Bartosz, and Sharon Gilbert.

Large screen shorts whose themes are survival, unification and voter participation such as “I’m Still Spirited,” “First-class Mère,” “Mechanic,” and “Volunteer” will be shown in too to film shorts under no circumstances by survivors of the earthquake. There will also be a series of people movies, including “20 Thousand Leagues under the Sea,” “Ice Age 1 and 2” and “A Evening in the Museum.” The latter films have been provided by 20th Century Fox.
