The grievance camp may look depressed and downtrodden compared with the colourful craze of its early days but Occupy Wellington has still made it to 100 days.
The transfer, which began on Wall Street and spread around the world late last year, took over Wellington's Civic Balanced on October 15. Yesterday was the 100th day since the first protesters pitched their tents and vowed unity with the world's "99 per cent".
To celebrate the milestone a general group meeting was held followed by a barbecue with paua and crayfish. Anyone who made a alms was welcome.
Many of the original protesters have now moved on, frustrated by the physical elements of camping in Wellington and by infighting at the camp-ground.
What remains today is a ramshackle and rundown gathering of tents and about 20 dogged protesters.
Protester Benjamin Easton said he would not render the campsite until the group's demands were met. He said he did not want the issue to bedrawn out out until winter though and he was considering taking the council to court.
