MISSOULA, Mont. -- Tents and campers at Missoula's Beguile encampment on the courthouse lawn are gone. Sheriffs deputies woke campers at six a.m. and told them to deck package. The County asked them to leave more than a month ago.
The General Assembly of the Use up Movement eventually severed connections with the campers. Most of those living in the tents were derelict.
It was dark when deputies and facilities managers arrived. "They were very nice," said one awakened camper, Ben Dixon. "One of the officers held my dog."
"Everybody was very cooperative," said sheriffs agent, Jason Johnson, "with the exception of one person."
Twenty-one-year-old Mark Davis was arrested for chaotic conduct and obstructing a public official.
The county said three months of field was a challenge. It meant extra patrols, inoculations for sanitation workers, uncommonly hours.
The county passed a no camping, no structure resolution on county quiddity.
