Orion Apex ini memiliki focused span 1300mm dan paket Apex ini “hanya” terdiri dari OTA, ditambah tas, put up prisma 45° dan eyepiece standar 25 mm (yang menurut teori akan menghasilkan pembesaran 52x). Sebagai ambahan, saya hanya membeli eyepiece 32mm (40x pembesaran) dan eyepiece 9mm (144x). Saya tidak/belum membeli mout/tripod, karena saya pikir saya sudah punya tripd foto yg dapat saya gunakan untuk menopang teropong ini.
Saya pikir, teleskop Apex 102 Mak ini sangat romantic sebagai clutch and go telescope, apalagi teleskop ini memiliki hand-out tas yang sangat standard digunakan jika ada acara unparalleled fete
Malam pertama saya menggunakan teropong Apex 102 Maksutov ini boleh dibilang gagal entire. Ketika itu saya belum men-sinkronkan objek antara finder orbit dengan teropong, dan saya mencoba mencari objek langsung dari eyepiece (teropong) tanpa bantuan finderscope. Dan hasilnya saya tidak bisa menemukan apa-apa dengan teropong. Padahal objek yang saya cari adalah bulan yang semestinya sangat mudah untuk ditemukan. Bermenit-menit saya mencoba mencai-cari bulan dengan teropong (sambil berjongkok) tetapi hasilnya nihil. Pada saat itu bulan tepat berada di atas kepala, dan sangat sulit meneropong bulan dengan pitch prisma 45°, apalagi tripodnya hanyalah tripod foto biasa (yang harganya hanya seratus ribuan) yang tentu saja tidak kokoh. Jika teropong tersentuh sedikt saja, maka akan langsung bergoyang-goyang.
