This is my first telescope reflection and to tell you the truth, I advise nothing about astronomy and bought it a whim of * looks more things in heaven *. Well deserved joke. But the telescope is more energetic and light supervision is unquestionably beautiful. The instruction manual has been moderate to accompany and implementation in place did not span all, even for a noob. I defintely push this.

PROCESSING 16 BIT TO 8 BIT? - Astronomy.com Forums

I am using an unmodified Canon 350D.  I nick the frames in Kick off arise Labs Nebulosity , align and add up in Inscrutable Sky Stacker .   I do not have the full 16 bit adaptation of Photo Look for.   I am using Photo Machine shop Elements .....an 8 bit program......which means I am converting a 16 bit tif send in into an 8 bit send in for processing.   My questions is:

How much information am I losing in the conversion make?

How much purposefulness am I losing in the images?

If your images are color with 16 bits per conduct, each medium has 65,536 levels of facts. When you go down to 8 bit, each ditch is reduced to a unmitigated 256 levels of word.
